Network-Attached USB Adapter Impresses

A new device from Addonics may make it much easier (and affordable) for people to connect devices to local area networks. Addonics has unveiled a small, network-attached USB (NAU) adapter that's supposed to work in conjunction with just about anything.

A formal statement listed every type of device a professional is likely to come into contact with - and then some - explaining, "The NAU essentially enables the installation of any USB device, such as webcams, USB speakers, fax, cell phones, USB cameras, USB storage, printers, scanners, card readers, optical drives, mp3 players, and flash drives via the existing network cable."

Next, "Once the USB device is on the network, any computer on the network can access the device as if it were locally attached to the computer."

Finally, here are three more important points: the NAU adapter from Addonics weighs less than 2 ounces, supports data transfer rates of up to 30Mbps, and the suggested retail price is just under $50.

This device could definitely go a ways towards eliminating rats' nests of cables and bulkier, more expensive solutions, then. Network professionals might do well to see if they can simplify (or build out) their wireless networks with it.
